chroma editor feature
Jesper Ödemark [21010135] · Wed, 13 Oct 2004 11:47:12 +0200
Hi!
Included on my chroma editor disc is some kind of converter program to convert chroma-cult files to chroma wieschloch-files and vice versa... just found it but have no cult-files to test it on...
Thought it could be interesting news...

jesper - if you wanted to try out a few conversions, you should find a good selection of chroma-cult files on the Patch Downloads page.
(Any/all of the files marked "sysex" will be chroma-cult files).
Has there already been a discussion here of "chroma wieschloch" files? If not, what exactly are these?

Problem is I'm running Atari in my studio, so downloading and converting might be a problem I guess. I'm no computer wiz, but thanks for the tip! So, can I get these sysex files into the atari easily?!

The EES midi-chroma-midi is the same as the chroma wieschlock (think I mistyped last mail) as installed with my Chroma. Apparently they have some minor differencies when it comes to store programs hence the converter thing on my disc. On my disc are 7 or 8 factory banks, some (which I think is traded back in the days) with assorted german names from makers (?) or sounds. In addition there are all (?) of Matthias Becker's own sounds from the second track on the vintage synths CD that can be heard on the site. (For those who has missed it, my chroma is the chroma in those recordings.)

Jesper - how would/do you download patches from the Atari (in general)? Would everything have to start out on an Atari floppy?
Murray Macdonald [21030276+] · Thu, 14 Oct 2004 16:32:52 -0700
I'm not too familiar with the Atari, but possibly you could transfer the files through a serial port using a terminal program. This would require two computers, but presumably you are not sending email from your Atari. ;-)

atari
Well yes, I'd prefer a 3,5 disc so with just the right format of the files it ought to be no problem. Connecting it to my PC is something that I wouldn't dare. Don't want to fry anything... :S
And no, I don't write mails on my Atari. ;)
To add something useful - here's an updated list for all you gear heads out there: http://www.electronic-obsession.se/studio/

Jesper - if you happen to have access to an appropriate floppy drive for your PC, then you can use SW to allow the PC to read/write Atari disks (i.e., you could save the .syx files from the Chroma site onto Atari disks - and then transfer them that way.)
While I haven't ever tried it, the program noted at http://www.horus.com/~hias/atari/ may do what you'd like.
(Some other programs are referenced at http://www.faqs.org/faqs/atari-8-bit/faq/section-76.html)

"Rhodes Chroma Synth Spare Voice Card. Fully functional. Pulled from a working unit. I still have a few more . If you need a spare or want to replace a bad one in your Chroma. This has nothing to do with a Chroma Polaris. Shipped with my usual care and in an anti-static bag. You need some technical expertise to install this. You are on your own in that respect. U.S. buyers only, lower 48 states. Buy-It-Now gets free shipping otherwise $10. Cashiers Check, Money Order or Personal Check (takes extra 10 days). Thanks."

"US buyers only" etc, well, no wonder he has trouble getting bids. Serves him right if you ask this european! >:)
I guess you've been hunting him to get you the serial of his torn-apart-corpse?!

And if you ask this Canadian!
I guess you've been hunting him to get you the serial of his torn-apart-corpse?!
It's likely from #21030574 but I've asked the seller (Russ Lyons) to confirm.
David Gowin [21030611] · Thu, 14 Oct 2004 09:52:14 -0400
What, our money isn't good enough (when paid in US through Paypal or money order????) Drives me nuts when Ebayers do that. Serves him right if he doesn't get any bids!
Chris Ryan [21030691] · Thu, 14 Oct 2004 08:16:33 -0700
Russ confirms that the card is from his "parts" Chroma 21030574, the rest of which he'll be selling soon. He'll probably also sell his working Chroma soon, the serial number of which we don't yet have.
